About Lumero

The one who brings light.

Lumero comes from the Latin lumen (light, clarity, illumination) and the Romance language suffix -ero, meaning one who works with, or one who brings. Therefore, Lumero: the one who brings light.

We employ the word 'light' in two ways. Firstly, illuminating the dark or unknown, by taking your survey data and providing multiple views to reveal hidden insights. And secondly, 'light' describes the effort required to do this. Hence, Lumero makes light work of employee survey reporting.

Founder

My career began at JRA, a New Zealand company that built one of the world's first fully online employee survey reporting platforms, and became the country's most popular employee survey provider. JRA was acquired by Kenexa, then IBM, and across that period I worked with organisations of every size, designing survey programmes and helping senior leaders make sense of what their people data was actually telling them. I led the JRA Best Workplaces programme for several years, working closely with HR and people experience leaders across many of New Zealand's leading organisations.

The platform we built at JRA is an ancestor of Lumero, in philosophy if not in code. Lumero is not looking to impose a particular worldview on our clients, expand into other HR sub-disciplines, or use surveys as a consulting on-ramp. We build employee survey reporting that meets the needs of our clients, letting the data speak for itself – whether you refer to it as an engagement survey, an employee experience survey, or a pulse check.

Why Lumero exists

Enterprise-depth reporting, without the enterprise overhead.

HR/PX and business leaders have a set of needs that many employee survey providers currently leave underserved.

First, reporting quality.

The DIY survey market for capturing feedback is substantial, with plenty of free options. But the quality of online employee survey reporting lags behind. Many tools are built for customer experience (CX), which has different reporting requirements to employee experience (EX). Great EX reporting allows you to make comparisons – team against team, this year against last, question against question. CX tools aren't built for that, so reporting EX on a CX platform can be a frustrating experience.

Second, sharing results.

Getting results into the hands of people leaders is treated as a consulting or enterprise feature. Custom logins and PDF reports are expensive and slow to produce. That's long overdue for a change.

Third, lock-in.

Somehow it's still the norm: multi-year contracts, customisations and sunk costs that leave you feeling fully committed, and deep integrations that once felt like a benefit and now feel like a rod for your own back.

Lumero was built to meet these needs and give you choice – even alongside your current provider.

Our approach to AI

Built in, carefully.

AI has amazing potential for employee survey reporting and we are integrating it where it adds value. Our approach is client-led: we develop AI features where clients have a genuine need, not just to add to the features list. AI features are opt-in.
